pompous ass

Oh yes, I just realized this weekend that the trip to Qingdao means I’ve now been in all the Chinese cities that will host Olympic events. Equestrian events in HK, Sailing in Qingdao, Soccer prelims in Shanghai, and the other assorted events of wonder in Beijing.

I hope I dont end up sounding like a pompous ass when I get home. The media storm will hit China to the max and you won’t be able to turn on the TV without seeing something related to those cities. And your enjoyment would really be punctured were someone to yawn disaffectedly and say:

“Pearl tower? Yeah, it’s okay I guess. Looks smaller in person.”

“That algae in Qingdao? I swam in it. I felt it. On my skin. Smells like old broccoli.”

“Right there by that pile of horse manure? I stood there. RIGHT THERE. BOOYAH.”

“You know, you haven’t lived until you’ve stood in person before the Bird’s Nest and really felt the rays of magnificence of those gracious lines. Oh what? Why yes, yes I have.”

MY APOLOGIES IN ADVANCE.
