I got back from Qingdao last night and fell face first into the internet, and then bed. Woke up with an awfully scritchy throat and alternately runny/clogged nose, and promptly reset the alarm and decided to skip class. I am determined to make up for it by doing some serious studying this afternoon, as I have actually perked up post-crap feelings in the morning.
INITIAL IMPRESSIONS OF QINGDAO:
Perhaps it was coming off the recent jaunt to Xinjiang (annointed “greatest trip of my life”), or the fact that I was in Xiamen just a few months ago (similar east coast city which has a cozy little island with fantastic architecture), but Qingdao was unfortunately uninspiring and full of unnecessary travel complications. Somewhat ashamed to say I blew many a fuse/gasket out of confusion/frustration that arises from language differences and cultural differences. Will talk about it more when I am less mad. Did manage to get a reasonable tan, and the beer museum was deliciously fun, but Qingdao overall? The poor man’s Xiamen.
